Wet Felting Hat Workshop with Chris Hall of Cake Tin Hats
You will learn to will measure, size and design your own hat pattern. After selecting a style and colours you will design and create your own felted hat from the finest merino wool fibres using a resist technique and seamless construction method. By the end of the day you will have completed a beautiful heirloom wet felted hat which you will fit and shape using a milliner’s wooden hat block, then style, finish and take home to dry.
Skills required: Some felting experience is preferred but not mandatory. Felting skills involve everything from delicate hand and finger dexterity to strong physical effort in the arm and shoulder area and requires some standing.
Materials included: merino wool fibre, template material and the use of all necessary items including soap slurry, bubble wrap, pool noodle, felting tools and vintage wooden hat blocks of varying sizes and shapes.
Students are required to bring: two old bath towels, two old hand towels, a bucket, sharp scissors, an apron or change of top (not necessary but just in case you get wet) and your lunch (or there is a cafe located across the street).

The cost is $135 per class.
