Wet Felted Flower Workshop
187 Main St W
Picton, ON K0K 2T0
This class is being instructed by Chris Hall of CakeTin Hats.
Students will design and make two beautiful and varied felted flowers from merino wool and silk fibres using different design techniques, styles and colours. You will learn a complicated resist technique and one or two other simpler techniques including making and attaching stems and leaves. By the end of the day you will have completed two heirloom flowers which you will take home to dry. These can be used as embellishments for hats, shawl pins, brooches or as lovely little free standing sculptures. Felting is full of endless possibilities and what you create will only be limited by your imagination!
Skills required: Some felting experience is preferred but not mandatory. Felting skills involve everything from delicate hand and finger dexterity to strong physical effort in the arm and shoulder area and requires some standing. Maximum 6 participants.
Materials supplied: merino wool, silk fibre, template material, soap slurry, bubble wrap, pool noodle and felting tools will be available to use.
Students are required to bring: An old bath towel, two old hand towels, a bucket, sharp scissors, needle and thread (if possible but not mandatory), a few straight pins, an apron or a change of top (not necessary but just in case you get wet) your lunch (or there is a cafe located across the street).
