Wet Felted Hat Workshop @ Rosehaven Yarn Shop

Wet Felting Hat Workshop with Chris Hall of Cake Tin Hats
You will learn to will measure, size and design your own hat pattern. After selecting a style and colours you will design and create your own felted hat from the finest merino wool fibres using a resist technique and seamless construction method. By the end of the day you will have completed a beautiful heirloom wet felted hat which you will fit and shape using a milliner’s wooden hat block, then style, finish and take home to dry.
Skills required: Some felting experience is preferred but not mandatory. Felting skills involve everything from delicate hand and finger dexterity to strong physical effort in the arm and shoulder area and requires some standing.
Includes: all materials to complete a hat, merino wool fibre, template material and the use of all necessary items including soap slurry, bubble wrap, pool noodle, felting tools and vintage
wooden hat blocks of varying sizes and shapes.

Students are required to bring: two old bath towels, two old hand towels, a bucket,
sharp scissors, an apron or change of top (not necessary but just in case you get wet) and your lunch (or there is a cafe located across the street).
To sign up and make a payment please call Rosehaven Yarn Shop at 613-476-9092 with your credit card information. Your payment will hold your spot in the workshop. The cost will be $135.00 (this includes materials).  The class is from 10 am to 5 pm with an hour break for lunch.  Bring a lunch or visit one of our local cafes which are all close by.

Nuno Wet Felting a Scarf @ Rosehaven Yarn Shop

3-scarves-may-2013Lesley Snyder, owner of Rosehaven Yarn Shop, will be teaching a you the basics of nuno felting your own shawl in a one day course. Lesley is a fibre artist that was a member of the Arts On Main Gallery art co-op for a number of years and has sold her shawls in the gallery and in her own shop the Galloping Goat Gallery.

Lesley believes in exploring colour and texture when it comes to nuno felting so you will be learning as much as can be squeezed into your workshop. Many different techniques will be discussed and demonstrated so that you can find the one that works best for you.

There will be an hour lunch break when you can visit a local cafe or bring a lunch if you prefer.
